Women Power

Today I woke up at 3pm and tried browsing through some channels on TV when I landed up to the news channel, with regular news and the Australian racial attacks (it’s so sad really) and others I also spotted a section where Meira Kumar was felicitated as the first Indian lady speaker, that’s superb and if I remember correctly Mrs. Pratibha Patil is the first Lady president of India , these are the list of the firsts but we can say that today the most powerful women in India is Soniya Gandhi and we can truly say that she is liked by many Indian with the enormous margin of votes she won compared to BJP. Also the new Union Railway Minister is Mamta Banarjee,
Yeah …. Baby this is girl power, gone are the days when Indian ladies were kept under wraps and not given education, the former social workers and thinker will be so happy to see this day today. India has given the women an equal chance to grow and survive the competition be it IT Industry or Government.
I am so so glad that I was not born in Afghanistan as everyone knows about the life of women there, We have witnessed the brutal killings videos shown on the TV apart from that the women cannot even go out of their houses, they need to be accompanied by some one all the tim and thy need to give an explanation for every act. Check this http://www.un.org/events/women/2002/sit.htm ,
I am happy that I am an Indian , I belong again....

Dont you think its an overdose. I m not saying that I am against females at the top. I am just wondering, if these women at the top are not just the glaomour quotient.
I find it hard to beleive that these females at the TOP will be able to push the womens rights reservation bill (atleast thats what i remember of it) Or encourage like minded females to pursue politics or motivate people around them to change things around.....

We are a very YOUNG country, however do you feel these females will help it make mature enough to be self sustaining.

A tall ask I might say, and yes this is just the begining however..... do they have it in them to push it forward....

Will it be aggression disguised in TLC of a mother..... Wat Say?

However ..... I still hope that the hand that rocks the cradle should rule the world.

A woman is the calm of a hurricane's eye
where a man finds transquility
as the storm passes by

A woman is the softness inside the shell
when the shell is bonbarded
by man's creation of hell

A woman is the pillar of a temple foundation
where a man comes and goes
with renewed inspirations

A woman is the cloud that carries the rain
giving life to man's soul
parched from anxieties and pain

A woman is the bank of the river flows
helping man's direction
by being the woman she knows

A woman is the sound of a Lark's song in the morning
when mist covers life
and man feels forlorn

A woman is the emotions
shared with a man
the climax of giving
by the touch of a hand

A woman is the flesh that holds the seed
the miracle of birth
fullfilling human need

A woman is the mother of a new generation
a man is the direction
of that aspiration

Hope someone writes a blog one day about you making India proud as a woman ! :)
You ROCK GIRL ! Take Care and God Bless you PRINCESS !

Hey Nidz,
Well, I do agree that we are seeing more of women representation in India today than ever before. But you're politically naĆve ... I have very strong opinions about all the three women. I'd rather not mention than in a public forum.. :D :D

If you feel that women on the top will not be able to push the right requirements of the country you can learn from th mother who handels a house better then the DAD who earns the money, women think far and beyond as compared to men.

//I hate politics//

I hate this statement..! It is a very convenient excuse to mask your ignorance. Besides, of you say that you hate politics, how can you then admire Sonia Gandhi or Mamta Bannerjee or The President for that matter?!

chill, When i say i admire them i say that because I feel that india has come a long way from th era of Mahatma Phule to today, I am not intrested how good and bad they personally may be,
And i belive that we should not always judge a person by his earlier deeds; sometimes we can admire them for something good they have done now,
I might say i hate politics and and I am still a learner but i do vote and understand me responsibilites

Love to hear about all that's going on in India Nids. You know here in America women have been fighting for equality for a really long time. Still, we remain only a tiny percentage of CEOs of major corporations and a tiny percentage of those holding public office. Most of those on top remain old, white men. When I think of my husband and I, there are things he excels at at things that I do. We are both equally intelligent and able, however. Let's hope our generation changes the world for the better for both men and women everywhere.
